But I wouldn't class myself as a cyclist.......
I generally avoid riding with others and I always cover up the lycra shorts! Occasionally I'll sign up to do an event but then, to be a gentleman, I let everyone else go first! I am not competitive when it comes to cycling and have never been a quick cyclist - nor am I ever likely to be!
As well as being called 'White bike' based on its colour, it is also known as 'Jealous bike' and it is a 2015 Genesis Croix de Fer.
It was my first drop bar bike and I fell for it immediately - once I'd figured out how to change gear!
It was rebuilt in 2020 using Shimano GRX components and Hunt Gravel wheels.
It earned the name 'Jealous bike' during the build of 'Green bike' as it wasn't getting very much attention - each time I took it out for a ride, something would break, need adjusting, grate etc just to make itself known!
Running a 2x10 GRX set up and Hunt wheels with Panaracer GravelKing SK 700x38's this is not set up for mega gravel rambling but as a happy mix for road/gravel duties and is happy doing both.
It may be steel (none of this lightweight plastic nonsense - I am from Yorkshire after all!) but is has gone all over the place, not only in the UK but into Europe as well with lots more adventures to come!
Green bike is a Sonder Frontier frame with a RockShox front fork.
Green bike was bought initially as a frameset from a British company (Alpkit) and was bought as a 'teach myself how to build a bike' project..... Something that was to be a very enjoyable process - yes ok, apart from brake bleeding....! I learnt new skills, spent time in the shed and trusted that what I had done was safe for the road and beyond.
Later I rebuilt the front end, adding a Rockshox fork - nothing fancy but just enough to soften the bumps a touch.
Running Shimano SLX as a 1x11 setup this has spent many an hour sloshing in mud and sludge - followed by the lengthy cleaning and regreasing process!
Often taking a back seat to Jealous bike, Green bike stands guard in the shed always ready for a muddy onslaught.....

#notamechanic but I do pretty much all the work myself on each of my bikes.....
