Colour is everywhere and it fascinates me as to how and why certain colours are associated with certain feelings and emotions.
I have read books (well, flicked through a few) and spoken to people about why certain colours trigger certain responses and how they are often conflicting. For example, we can see red as a sign of love, passion and romance.... or it is used as a warning colour in nature (and in road signs!) so these two colours can represent very different things....
I believe that people associate with different colours. Some feel they have a colour aura, or only wear shades of a certain colour because it resonates with them etc. Colours that have a significance to their 'being'.
This 'colour collaboration' project is a potential opportunity for you to be represented in your colour spectrum.
I am planning to create 64 images based around the 'being' design. The circular representation of 'being' made up of layers of overlapping traits that delve to the very core of each individual. The 64 will be individually drawn circle 'beings' which will then be coloured based upon the responses of some of you reading this page. I also look forward to learning how colour influences life having spent much of my recent life working (and living!) in greyscale...
Each of the 'beings' is unique by the very nature of them being hand drawn (no repeated template) and the colour representation will also be individual. Even if more than one person nominates the same colour options, they won't be repeated in exactly the same way in the image.
I also then plan on displaying these 64 images for viewing. How and where is not yet decided - if anyone has links to an exhibition space, email me! hello@mryoung.uk
I have opted for 64 for no other reason than it is a square number so will create a balanced 8x8 display. I could have gone for other square numbers but 81 was too many and 49 seemed too few.
There is no guarantee that you will be chosen - a small, select number of spaces have already been allocated - Mrs Young for example has a slot as she wasn't on the Project 5 list.....
I need to clarify that the form collects emails, it doesn't share them with anyone else filling it in. The only function for this is to allow me to respond, once the window closes, to let you know if you have been allocated one of the slots. It isn't signing you up to a mailing list or newsletter (I don't have the time to do one!) and it won't be used for marketing or anything else. Once the application 'window' closes, I will allocate the spaces and then you will recieve an email to let you know you have been successful. I will post a 'window closed' post on instagram. If you haven't had an email from me once that goes out, you haven't made it this time. Sorry in advance! From there the Google form will be deleted. I think that covers the data storage aspect.
Also, as I am a teacher, I know that some of pupils I work with might want to be involved. I am not saying you can't complete the form, but you must do it with an adult (parent / guardian) and the link MUST be filled in via an adults email. If I suspect that it has come from your own personal email, I will delete it. This is very important.
